Multi tasking archer?

Forgive me if I am ignorant of what may have possibly happened in the past.

Is there any mileage in the idea of a competition, friendly or whatever, in which the archers shoot several different "bow styles" in one round or combination of rounds or archery disciplines to determine the "complete" archer. ??

I understand your point, a competition is after all about finding the best. How ever archery is a martial art, in the past a military one, which if you think about it does put a slightly different angle on things. An archer in this sense, not be able or good enough to make a certain type of shot or not being able to use a wide range of equipment will sooner or later be at a huge disadvantage. So even if the archer is 'master of one' said archer has to be at least competent with all and that would be the point of this type of competition.

Yeah that is what I was thinking when I made the original post. I believe there is an olympic medal for a similar sort of event in track and field? The name of the event escapes me??

Probably thinking of the Modern Pentathlon, which (so legend has it) is based on the requirements of an army messenger to be able to ride, swim, run, shoot and use his sword.

In which case, as well as the various bow styles, there may be other elements of the sport that should be included: fletching, tuning, etc.

Which means that, when it comes down to it, the competition could be called - "The level 2 Coaching Course".

Yes that's it - Pentathlon! Your not far off referring to a coaching course, I just finished up a weekend of County Coach training last night!

I was thinking along the lines of a 2 day event which would include two or three archery disciplines (done before) but with the added requirement of participants using 2 or three different bowstyles as well. Then figure out some way to determine winner/s??
