Membership tracking software

I have run a search with no results through the search tool and am looking for a software solution to track membership of the club. Numbers to be about a hundred but with possible expansion as needed.

Ideally free

The ideal software would allow a record of new and past members to be kept and show the status of membership for not only the treasurer but also the Secretary and records officer - a shared file?

Has any one got a programme in use? or have any ideas as to the best product.

Many thanks

Just a simple database program would be able to do this. SQL FTW!

Seriously though if you were desperate you could set that up in MS access!

I use Joe Tapley's records program - you can also record address details etc within it and mark whether a member is current or not.

SQL FTW!

Some type of database I guess?

I have found through experience that the locally written programmes are great until the writer goes away!

SQL is a database doo-dad. FTW means for the win, in other words I'd use that!

Easiest option is excel.

Yes, you could build something in access or mysql/php for the webbites, or some other coding language, but what you really need is a simple spreadsheet.

If you want to share the file, then google documents might be an option.

Thanks Murray,

Will ask around and see if any members are closet spreadsheet writers.

I guess other clubs use the paper methods and a big file to hold their members details.

Cheers

Just bear in mind that under the data protection act (yup, more scary government legislation quoting) you aren't allowed to keep personal details of ex-members. Once they leave your club, they aren't current members anymore, so you don't have a legitimate reason for keeping their details unless you have permission from the office of dataprotection.
You can keep stats of course.
This all counts for paper as well as computer files!
To be clear ,you are allowed to keep reasonable necessary information about current members for membership purposes.

Yes you are. You are not allowed to keep personal details 'for longer than is necessary' but this isn't the same as not keeping them at all. The ICO guidelines on how long details can be kept is vague - you have to judge how long 'necessary' is - but they give examples where details can and should be kept for a very long time.

John
