Colchester Garrison and the Essex country cricket ground in Chelmsford are down as possibles for archery in the Essex area.

Best wishes, Mark

I must retract my earlier cynicism! A much broader spread than I imagined.

The invite was published a couple of years ago. We got the application forms and thought about it, but the requirements for indoor facilities for physio, etc, made it impossible for us. They were looking for a lot more than just a field with a clubhouse.

We have a field, a clubhouse and two very nice toilets and some Eastern European ladies offer massage services in a bungalow just down the road, so would this count as our club physio department?

I wonder what access will be like? It would be good to get County juniors involved, even a day trip to watch and inspire! Hopefully GNAS will make access available to those with a genuine interest, epecially the youngsters.

Does anyone think it will have a significant impact on the 'normal' tournament schedule? The pre-olympic and olympic period falls over the part of the year when many major tournaments are usually scheduled. I can't see any real reason why it should, but I would be interested to know if any special plans are being made with regards to events like the Masters, GNAM and BTC, especially with Lilleshall being one of the hosts.

Whatever, I think this is an occasion where we should all get behind the beardies in GNAS towers and make sure they get as much support as needed.

Looks like we've got Headingley and Leeds Grammar School in Leeds.
York Uni is not far either.
Is Shaw Lane Community Sports Centre where Barnsley AC shoot ?

We seem quite blessed with the archery as there are 4 venues within 20 miles of Bicester where I live. Ive always thought the lawn in front or infact the back lawn of Stowe School would be an excellent venue to host a tournament. And Radley College will probably set something up on their lawn. Then there is the Oxford Uni who boast fine grounds over a huge well "Town". And Stoke Mandeville Stadium as well. Cool if anyone from the International Teams is reading this good choices for your archery teams and only 1 hour max from the main venue. We have an archery retailer just down the road as well. Ching!
I think the Saudi Team already have ties with Chiltern Archery as they visited last year. Have the Saudi's qualified?
