coach renewals

has anyone ever received a renewed coach certificate?

My cert came up for renewal in January. I sent off the paperwork and I konw my CCO recommended my renewal, but I've heard nothing back since.
When I enquired, I've been told that gnas probably dont send out renew certificates.
Problem is my certificate has a start date on it, under which it says "effective for 3 years"
My local council said "your 3 year certificate has expired. Can we see your new certificate to prove you are still a coach" and theyve expired my accreditation until I get a new certificate. We have a local version of clubmark (active clubs association) and that also depends on coaches having current certificates.
Someone at gnas is looking into it for me now, but I wondered if I am alone in this "non certificate" black hole and if other coaches had received renewed certificates? Am I going to have to resit my exams, or should I do a leaders course to be sure of a valid certificate

Never received a replacement certificate but your membership card clearly states the end date of your coaching authority.

This has happened to us, a quick call to your local county coaching organiser, should get it sorted. Are you in Sports Coach UK? if you are covered through them, I see no problem.

When GNAS sort it out you will be send a new sticker for your card with a new Coach expiry date.

By that I don't think you're meant to expire

thewayitwas: the council want to see a valid coaching certificate. Thats why its called a coaching certificate.

cliveann: its my cco thats looking into it for me

why put an expiry statement on the certificate if there's no renewal?

I can't believe I am alone in this!

If you need more than an updated membership sticker then ask the GNAS office to provide you with a "To whom it may concern" letter

Hmmm, I did check my gnas card (only issued in october) after reading twiw's reply and it says "coach till Jan 2008"

I like the phrase "when they sort it out". The paperwork should have been with me 3 months before the expiry. I got it 5 weeks before. I flew round, filled it in and sent it back within days and that was nearly 9 weeks ago now.
Wonder what would have happened if I'd have sent my paperwork in 9 weeks late?

At the end of the day, I want a valid coaches certificate. I paid my money. I did the course. I passed the exams. I even jumped through hoops colllecting club card points - sorry, CPD points (several hundred by my renewal) to be told that CPD wasnt required for coaches so I think I am entitled to at least have a valid certificate. I can't believe that my certificate was a one off print run.

Mind you, the level1's in my club are still waiting for their certificates too and they passed in September. Actually, thats not true. They're not waiting. They've forgotten all about it by now.

Nice to know that GNAS are consistant if nothing else. Rubbish at processing memberships and rubbish at coaching certificates.

My certificate dated 02/11/07 was posted 19th Feb 08. My assessment was in August ( I know the paperwork was not done until the coaches conference). My new sticker was in with the certificate.
