| Hi Johnk We holiday in Argyll and asked this question about where we stay (Carradale). Unfortunately it seems that there is no organised clubs around that part of Argyll, as such but there maybe some "private" shooting though a little hard to come by. Depending on how you are travelling to Kennacraig assuming you are getting to Ilsay by ferry, there are a couple of opportunities. There is some shooting on Aran, at Brodick Castle I seem to remember, but I think this is “have a go” type shooting. There is also Brian Kupris’s club Argyll Field Archers near Oban. I know it’s hardly “on the way” but if you are in the neck of the woods, you’re a lot closer than you are at home.

| JohnK Not aware of a "club" on Islay, certainly not one listed on the SAA website. As mentioned Argyll Field Archers field course 15 miles east of Oban and Oban and Lorn Archers shoot in Oban. I'm a member of both of these clubs so if interested get in touch with me. |

| IIRC we trained a couple of Coaches from Islay late 90s early Noughties... so archery is not unknown on Islay.

| Ta all. I'd like to explore that side of Scotland a bit while we're up there, but I doubt I'll get the chance. The cost of ferrying my car on and off the island would be a bit prohibitive ![]() Ron - Thank you for that. Are you an Islay resident? If so, what brought you to this little corner of the web? You aren't joining in with the walking festival are you? That's what I'm going for ![]() |
