The Glade - ideas ?

I was reading the Glade yesterday and see that GeoffT is taking over. Geoff was asking for comment on ideas he put forward for future editions.

IMHO I think the strength of the Glade lies in its appeal to grass roots archers, where the Bow is more of an International magazine. I would like to see Geoff build on this, perhaps continuing and expanding on reports from around the regions.

How about getting a junior involved writing about their expriences? Lucy O and Tom B spring to mind as likely candidates.

There is a crossover betwen the two magazines and I think this is inevitable due to the fairly limited opportunities for reporting our sport. I would like to see Glade retain its identity and not become a clone of Bow as you see in other sectors such as Digital camera magazines, car magazines etc.

We buy and enjoy both each month because of the different content.

Wendy and I wish Geoff all the best with the Glade and hope he is supported by the AIUK community.

I know what you mean about the camera magazines! Almost identical articles on the same few subjects, almost identical over-processed photos by readers, etc.

I gave up on the Glade because the articles were almost exclusively concerned with traditional archery and archery history, neither of which is my thing. What would draw me back is more content on recurve and compound (though trad and history should still be in the mix, of course). I'll certainly give the Glade another try now that Geoff's taking over.

You could try changing the name so that it doesn't sound like an Air Freshener?

Having been a magazine editor myself I know it won't be easy!
