Have we done this yet?

With the summer season (ok, outdoor season) almost upon us, I've been thinking seriously about what I want to achieve.

My goal for the coming season is Bowman on the recurve. With how I know I can shoot[1], and what I have learnt about why my shooting goes off[2] I think that this is an achievable goal. IF, and it is a big if, I was dedicated and did a proper amount of physical training I think I could possibly reach MB, but I don't think I have that level of commitment at the moment. So it's a sensible goal for me (ie BM)

What have you got planned as a sensible goal and what is your over achivement dream?



1. Comfortable 1st class at my best, but on 70m only.
2. Form, now that you ask. I could probably get away with the occasional bum release if my front shoulder didn't collapse as the shoot progresses

somewhere theres already a 'what do you want from 2008' thread but since my priorities have changed slightly ill bite anyway paul - so goals for my second outdoor season in order -

1 - have fun

2 - get my 2nd two 1st class scores (aiming to do this by end of april weather permitting)

3 - embed and consolidate what i learned on the GNAS personal performance weekend ive just done - including (hopefully) some return visits to the coaches i worked with

4 - get comfortable shooting 100yds / 90m and see what happens from there

5 - long-term / over-ambitious goals - to get to at least BM over the next 2 years and shoot at county level

• My main goal for this season is BM in compound and first class in recurve (although BM if I achieve that early in the season).
• I'd like to shoot at 1150 York and a 1250 FITA and get some badges for those.
• I'd like to reach the head-to-heads at the Cleve FITA Star in July
• As far as big dreams go - MB/GMB is what I would like to achieve, but it won't be possible this year (I'm only entered into 2 record status events, and MB/GMB in my first outdoor season with a compound would be impressive).

This will be my first ever outdoor season, so my goals are a little lowly;

- not to kill anybody.

- find some way of getting to the club field

- first class would be nice...

My sensible goals:

MB and shooting consistently. I think these are pretty much hand in hand and definitely acheivable.

My not so sensible goal

GMB.

This year the goals have to be:

• Gain Bowman classification
• Shoot 1000+ in a FITA (1100+ would be even nicer )
• Help my son gain his classification in Longbow (definitely 3rd class: 2nd class would be brilliant!)

And above all else…

• To thoroughly enjoy my archery, whatever the weather and however elusive the gold gets at times!

Gain Bowman in BB category rather than struggling with 2nd class in recurve category despite the lack of sights and stabilisers.

Score with every arrow in a St George

My not so sensible goal is to shoot a 1000 FITA and I certainly wont be doing it this year. Soon though….soon!

Be happy with my bow, 90% achieved
Be happy with my form, 80% achieved
Be happy with my score 82% achieved
Be happy with my classification- that'll never happen, even at GMB!
Be happy with the rest of life aside from archery....working on it

was break 800 Albion - now to break 850 Albions
was to make tournament bowman- basically in the bag dare I say it.
Use this season to refine form to make MB next year
to shoot for county, get some proper training/coaching, be around those that are 'doing the business' not just talking about it.

Get my bloody thyroid under control!
