Question Beginners Courses

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how many beginners courses clubs around the country run over the year.
We have just finished our third beginners course and are about to start our fourth since moving indoors in September. We are also booked up for our first course outdoors.
Don't know where everyone is coming from at the moment!!

We run about four or five in a year I think (it feels like more). We finished our last one of the current course today. Our waiting list is approx 2 years. I think the latest surge in interest comes from a programme recently about horse back archery or somat.

How many do you have on each course?
2 years is a long time to wait?

We have about 4 courses a year and teach about 40 - 50 beginners in total, then the have-a-go sessions which can be in excess of 70 people per year.

It is a long time to wait, but over that time we do check back with them to make sure they still want to wait. We also try to give them info on other local clubs who maybe able to fit them on a course sooner.

We take (I believe) a maximum of 20 on each course, otherwise you don't get the chance to spend enough time with each student.

We also do the have-a-go's. They average about 4 or 5 through the outdoor season. We tend to do them outdoors on a weekday evening.

How big a membership do you have? and how many "coaches" can you muster?

All the beginner's courses are great but how many new members do you get from each course? and following the course how long do you allow them to keep using club equipment before they have to get their own? Our next course starts in April and any one who joins is welcome to use the club bows and arrows well up to Xmas. Mind you most have brought stuff well before then.

We're about to kick off three concurrent courses - one on Saturday mornings, two on Sunday afternoons. We'll repeat this twice before November, so that'll be 9 courses in the year. And maybe more if we decide to run midweek evening sessions.

We trained up 75 beginners last year. Our waiting list is only the interval until the next course starts. I can't imagine having a two year waiting list, but I assume that's a result of running courses indoors where space is limited. We always run them outdoors so we can have up to 12 people per session.

I'm told it has something to do with gooseberry bushes.
