Small boxes on the scoring sheet.

I looked out side this morning and thought ' indoors today' and then my mind started to wander a bit, thinking about the down side of shooting indoors. One of the things that crossed my mind was trying to write a 10 ( two characters ) in a space that is normally suited for one (9 or anything down to 1) in the boxes on the score sheet, which is a pain. So I thought, why not copy the method used in ten pin bowling. Ten is recorded as a / in the box. This should save time and make the scorers job a lot more simple.

Confusable with a "7" or "1", even a "2". "T" would be too.
How about a "D"? Good Latin roots, and, as we do not use a "0", fairly unique

I just had a little mental image of Quintus standing at the boss calling: "D,D,IX, VIII,VII,VII, that's aaah... LI"

Many years ago back in the mists (fog) of time I seem to recall, we used to record ten as an X X987654321 and a dash (-) for a miss!
This was in the days before they rejigged the standard target face to have the extra ring in the center and before compound 10s were even thought of.

Surely the obvious answers are (a) make the little box bigger or (b) dont put individual boxes for arrows, just have one box for the end. Personally I prefer (b) as the one arrow one box method really gets messy if you record incorrectly and the judge has to find rook for the correct score and his/her initials

Though actually, it would add up to MXXXI for Quintus.

Although I did LI(e) about the numerals for the sake of the humour.

If D=10, as suggested for scoring purposes then LI is correct, whereas if you go with the Roman version D=500...
