A new tournament

We have been challenged by the local rifle/gun club to shoot against their Ladies team...Guns verses Bows.
I have forwarded the e-mail I received to the club. So far, two responses, both Longbow archers. That's three of us so far.
I would imagine that we would be shooting at their club, as a backstop net would not be the best for stopping their projectiles

Have any others been invited to a similar shoot? If so, how did you get on?

Would you be shooting on the same sort of face? I feel it would be a little unfair to have a gun against a longbow on a 122cm face.

I would imagine that we would shoot on our own faces, depending on distances shot. I'm still waiting for a reply from the gun club.
I like to shoot at 4" targets at 30mtrs or so with my compound, it's good for the concentration. Longbow, perhaps something bigger... hanger door for instance

This sounds like fun and a real challenge. For recurvers though the constant firing of the guns mught be off putting if using a clicker

Wouldnt mind a go at this sometime.

Many years ago, we competed against a local rifle club indoors, only the competition format was that we took them on at Rifle shooting, and they then took us on at Archery. It was circa 30 years ago, and I can't recall how we worked out who won, but for me it was a great experience to try rifle shooting which I hadn't ever done. I would add the archrs won, but we did have a couple of good rifle shooters, my dad drawing on his experience as a small arms trainer when he was in the army in the 50's!

But to mix it up like this may be better than a straight shoot.

Weve done the same sort of thing against darts teams. The darts players usually get cheezed off at how long 3 arrows takes!

As cliveann's archers seem to be longbowmen, perhaps a 2 way comp?

My experience is almost the same as Graham Potts - we had a rifle shot then an archery shoot, we fiddled he numbers around and the archers won!

It was great fun, especially experiencing shooting these rifles (prone).

We had some basic lessons on how to shoot, shot some sighters then shot our round. Highy recommended.

So far: 2 Longbow, 1 Recurve, 1 Compound.(That's me)

Some 30 odd contacts on my mailing list, 3 guys reply. Does that tell you anything?
