midsummer murders

I caught an advert/trailer for Midsummer Murders on tv last night with inspector thingy finding a "clue" that was "a flight off an arrow"
Then an arrow smacks into the tree above his head.
There was a clip of an archers "guard of honour" at a wedding or similar.
I can only assume that the murder could be archery related.

Whilst I have no objection to any errant archer putting an arrow through any character played by John Nettles, I have to wonder if "murder by archery" is a good image for our sport!

That would depend on the group size and the distance the person was shot at

Frankly, I can't imagine why any self-respecting archer would live in Midsomer Norton. Archers are, on the whole, intelligent people and not the sort who would buy a house in a small rural community which is decimated by murder on a weekly basis! I bet the milkman and the local newsagent don't give credit - can you imagine ringing the bell to collect the money for a week's supply of gold top only for the door to be opened by John Nettles, sadly shaking his head? You'd be bankrupt in a couple of months!!

I'm a big fan of Midsummer Murders and Rosemary and Thyme and I know at least one episode in the later is by an archer, and 3 or 4 of the former. The thing I always find funny is that they always use v low poundage long bows that the arrows look more likely to bounce out than kill!

On the other hand, the market is being flooded with houses, and the place has a poor reputation, so i should imagine prices would be quite low, and you could pick up a bargain. Not to mention lots of large gardens etc for practice.
[Same might be true of King's Markham]

Midsomer I like. Rosemary 'n Thyme? I couldn't last a few minutes. At least Murder in Suburbia was so bad it was funny.
Anyway, Midsomer brings in money from America to make good shows.

What's wrong with Nettles? He does good voice-overs. Although Bergerac scares me...my dad had only just left Jersey and whenever I catch it I imagine my dad with a 'tash. *shudders*

*marks off places that have a surprising amount of people somehow surviving*
Midsomer, Oxford, Glasgow, Yorkshire, Cabot Cave (Maine), LA, SF, Miami, Denton, Cornwall, Shrewsbury (albeit 1000 years ago-ish), Edinburgh...

Dont watch Braveheart then!!! Or Lord of the rings, Or Blade Trinity, or 300, or Rambo. Sorry the list is endless of blood thirsty archers in films.

There are two episodes (at least) of someone being killed by bow and arrow.

One was some pagan guy at a midsummer/dawn ceremony just as he was about to fire a flaming arrow.

The other was shot in the back at a village fair (and there was a have-a-go present).

Archers bloodthirsty? Any decent bowman would be too far away to spot any blood!!!!

I saw a film where a couple had their kids and car stolen...I think the husband was out of action, injured, for most of it, so the mother goes on a rescue spree with her recurve.
