| The job of a TO is a tricky one... if you keep all bow types together on the same boss then you actively wear out some bosses more than others... a problem also arises when you have a good set of archers and want to avoid arrow damage... you are never going to keep everyone happy

Should clubs provide foam bosses for compounders to shoot on, even though they are heavy to move and difficult to store? Could better archers shoot on multiple reduced ring versions of a 122cm target (bit like shooting a triple) - GNAS rules permitting etc, etc |

| And besides, allocation of targets at tournaments is supposed to be random.I think the only real solution is for everyone to respect each other's archery, not to grumble about pulling difficult arrows, or scoring, or potential arrow bending. What causes friction is actually those who refuse to help when approached politely.

| Just have to throw in my 6 peneth. 1 No-one (including disabled archers) should go to a shoot expecting other people to pull their arrows. If one is aware that they can not pull their own arrows they should discuss it with the organiser before hand. To start being prescriptive is just going to drive more people away. One of the things I realy like about archery is how archers are always willing to help each other but this is based on give and take and good manners. That disappears when archers start insisting things rather than asking politely. 2. Yes there is a problem with straw bosses but this has been exacerbated in our region by the increase in compound archers (and recurves shooting at higher levels). SAA northern area bosses are used four days per year and are now lasting 3 years at best. That is 10-12 tournament days after which the centres are too soft for competition. At current prices that is £12 per day or £4 per archer per day out of the tournament fee. Simple answer is to increase shooting fees so bosses can be replaced sooner. This year we are trialing 80cm centres at FITA 30m as this is where we think most of the damage is done. This again does not suit everyone as anything out side the 6 ring is a miss.

| I shot 25m at a wet Danage boss to get some sightmarks with my X7's and as I now know wet Danage + allies = stuck arrows. I did end up wrenching my shoulder getting the arrows out. In all honesty, getting arrows that have pierced the stand leg through the boss are easier to get out!!

Are you not contradicting yourself there? Be honest Alan, we all know that when we go to a shoot we might end up with a disabled person on our target, its part and parcel of the game. If there is space there'll be only three on that target and so the two that go up will score and shoot. For us ladies it might be bonus time as quite a few of the lady wheelchairers do bring a husband along and they make themselves very useful. I'd like to think if I were unable to walk to the target I could trust someone to cheerfully look after my arrows for me. We have had the odd archer in a stookie or bandage after an op enjoy some fresh air and company. Organisers do usually have box on the entry form so you can let them know you need help and they will make a point of leaving you space and making sure a suitable person is on that target if at all possible.

| on double scoring we have two scoring two pulling, we rotate this as much as possible, some peole dont like to score (i do) split rubber arrow pullers are the best thing that have been invented imo some peole want to pull their own others are happy to let someone else do it, so long as one person does not get stuck with pulling everyones arrows, any way if you hit the centre gold thats usualy the soft spot and easily removable area, so hit gold and stay out of the blue
