problems with quickspins?

Any body experienced flight problems with quick spin fletchings at long distances in the wind?(no jokes please) My AL noticed that they go straight for so long and then veer off in different directions when it is windy. I wondered if it was because I have only got a 24" draw length pulling about 39 to 40 lb(compound) maybe they dont have enough momentom?

I did some experiments with different fletchings at the start of the season shooting at 80 yards, (KG Apex at 45lb, 29in ace with 95g piles)

I tried straight and curly K vanes, straight easton vanes, spinwings and quickspins

all except the quickspins gave similar hit elevation and when they were on gold height the quickspins were low black/white.

Didn't see any down range curve in flight.

As I'm sure Marcus will tell you, Quickspins are fine indoors, but useless outdoors as they generate too much drag. My guess would be that perhaps the wind starts to really show further downrange as the vanes have slowed the arrow down.

Simple equation...

Quickspins= Epic amounts of drag.

As HH said.. the drag could have slowed the arrow to the point where the wind was really affecting it.

Been using these for a few months.
Seem to work ok up to 40M..... then sight marks realy drop and groups start to widen. Think it's thats the point when the arrow velocity drops and if the flechings arn't EXACTLY positioned, the spin generated by each fleching interfers with one another causing loads of drag.
Too much hassle for me to experiment with and not to mention expensive, so I'll be changing to more conventional flechings.

Sam we have the same draw length and I shot the same poundage as you last year. The answer is 1.5" X-Vanes either fletched straight or a slight 1/2 degree offset. I found the drag with NAP Quick Spins too much at 80yds.

Thanks everyone of to aards sat get them changed you have confirmed what I thought but you know that saying when archers are looking for an explanation for poor quality shooting they blame their equipment.So its good that everyone has or had the same problem with them. Plus it shows I am learning!
