The 2 forums are quite different, from what ive seen. This one seems target orientated, the other field

Overall, IMHO this is one of the most sensible threads concerning coaching etc. I have read in a long time on this forum. Think I will climb off the parapet wall and give life as a coach and archer another day or two... Maybe..

The other day I was shown the outline of what a coaching course entails, and when I read it, I realised that even if I wanted to, I could not get anywhere near to becoming a coach.
The norm now as I understood, is to cater for all the disciplines.
If this is correct then my 40 years of recurve would be of no use, because I can't see myself trying compound yet.
It does not allow each class to have its own specialists in coaching, or am I mis-understanding something here?....

Paul...

Archery has a lot of disciplines. Specialists at the medium and higher levels of coaching makes sense to me. Only my humble opinion

Smile opinions

At the very least, your opinions are very colourfully expressed!

If I shot all my arrows the way I shoot the best half of them, I'd be damn good.
If I shot all of them the way I shoot the other half, I'd go in for some easier sport, like ocean racing, or cave diving.
By the way, a little story. Once upon a time, I was in an archery shop when I overheard a man, who was pear shaped, express the idea that he had always thought people who shot compounds were wimps.
I refrained from siezing him by the throat but gently led him to the compound rack and challenged him to draw one or two, but he declined, not surprisingly.
Personally, I've never known a compound archer who I thought was a wiimp.

Funny how things turn out different to expectations - this was not meant to be a coaching thread.

No problems. In some way it served its purpose and discussions of coaches etc has been in a more positive vein. Much of that is down to you.
