i think the main reason is social archers. years ago they used to have sunday afternoon picnics at our ground, and shoot a round. now all they do is plonk a few arrows then race off for dinner.

i still recon that GNAS fee's should be atleast £52 per year. £1-00 a wek.

£32 to watch 1.5 hrs of football at liverpool
£30 for 18 holes of golf
£40 per month for an average gym
i'm not loaded ,but i've never met tighter people than some archers

Robin the Hood make sure your at the meeting on monday. you miight have to hold me back ,when i mention the rugby.pinching the field

£32 to watch 1.5 hrs of football, but you dont pay anything to the F.A. for that do you? Does the governing body for golf see much of your £30? The gym will pocket most of your £40
I agree that archers are a tight lot.
Pay more for clubs or coaching etc (dont lets start a bunfight over that one) by all means to provide better facilities etc
but there is this general perception that GNAS do very little for the money as it is, without substantial increases.
It might bode better if GNAS actually published positive proposals as to what I could do to improve things, thereby justifying an increase in fees, rather than more cash for the same old same old

i know very little GNAS fee's go towards insurance.
4 mags a year thats about £15.
staff to sort (when they get around to it.) coaching ,CRB's. british records..memberships.. etc

come on nothing is free. i still think £33 per annum is cheap.
i'd pay that knowing i can go to any fita in the world and know i'm insured to shoot.

the majority of GNAS staffing is volunteers, just like the 3/4 people that can be bothered to go to set up your Fita star tournies.

how many club members dont go to there clubs to set up. with the thoughts of"i dont do comps, so why should i help" or oh sorry i'm working that weekend
happens everywhere

pete,..........£33 peace of mind

That's assuming you actually get a mag! Sorry that's another thread.

If the GNAS insurance follows the general costs per member of other sports. The cost per member will be in the region of £1 to £1.50.
Why not have an online mag only and save thousands on publishing costs as I bet there is a lot of waste.

Thunk mentioned earlier about increasing the fee's by £10 to fund the office. I'm OK with the increase but £10 each x 26-30,000. How many staff do you want? What rate of pay?
As with any business it's about looking at improving how you function without extra costs. Only when all savings and improvements have been looked at and achieved will more money be asked for. If the need is proven there is a 50% chance the finances will be approved.

£30,000 -2xstaff £15,000 each for full time work, not a great rate of pay. By the time on costs are taken the actual gross wage to the employee would be quite a bit less.

If more staff would actually ease the problems that seem to plague GNAS then I for one would gladly pay the increase.

Think the idea of an online AUK would be good.

I think the GNAS fees offer very good value when compared to other Leisure activities and if £10 a year more was what was deemed reasonable to improve the service and develop archery then I cant see how anyone can complain at paying less per week than a pint of beer, Big Mac Meal or 10 cigs.

I was a little concerned to hear that there is no money available for recurve archers selected for the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and they are having to look for sponsorship. Perhaps this is where an increase in subs could be put to good use. The compound squad have the ring fenced grant but don't have to worry about the Olympics. So if it is true about the recurve archers not having any money for the CG 2010 I think this is something that needs to be looked at as a priority. I appreciate they get funding for Olympic training and this will have a direct benefit on the CG, however this does not pay for the logistical operation of sending the team and all that involves. Perhaps I am wrong about this funding and someone with more knowledge will be able to clarify what is going on.

i realise that somemoney should be forwarded for the commonwealth games. but its not GB... its england, scotland, wales , northern ireland, eire.

so funding should be from the relevent areas.

compkiller. £10 extra for 30,000 members is £300,000,

i'm more concerned where the 2.5 - 3 million on performance, has gone from the funding we had last yr. but as i wasn't at the AGM i cant complain

Pete

EAF, Scotland, Wales, NI are still part of GNAS and certainly in the case of EAF they even used the GNAS 2007 Ranking list as the selection criteria. Surely it is fair that all archers representing the UK & NI have equal and fair access to funding. For example it would probably be easier for EAF to raise more money for the England team than NI or Wales would. Sorry this is going off topic a little.

Perhaps that is where some of the £2.5 - 3m has gone

the selection criteria for 2010 is ----- the archers must have scores within the 1st to 8th place in the european rankings, so i gather there's only england going anyway

commonwealth cup...england,australia and india
