Burntwood?

I've seen Burntwoods as a round on several competition entry forms. They don't appear anywhere in the various descriptions I have of indoor or outdoor rounds.

Any idea what they are please?

It is a round for visually impaired archers, the boss is always at the same distance and the size of the face changes, a good explaination can be found here:

I think they are a good idea and really clever. We have them at our FITA.

No need to apologize jimmy, this year was the first time we included the burntwood to our spring bank shoot after the success at the fita's and I always find it amazing to watch.

Keep on telling myself to try it one day, just for the fun of it.

A couple of people at our club have tried it and interesting enough, there burntwood scores were very close to there average fita scores.

Think if we put a bindfold on them will make it a bit tricker though.

There is also the Aldridge Round - one and a half dozen at 40 yards on each of the four face sizes, which my club (Walsall) do once a year, though only the compos can usually hit the 18m face very often!

The Burntwood round is for Visually Impaired archers but is occaisionally shot by other disabled archers as they are unable to shoot the longer rounds. (the burntwood is shot at 30m only and uses four face sizes to depict the four distances)
