| Might I suggest this as an alternative question - judges do slow down shoots; is this a good thing?

| I've only ever found judges helpful. Being an archer who has often held up shooting due to equipment failure, I know that people get annoyed having to wait. At my last comp, I pointed out to a judge that one of my target mate's arrows seemed to be dangling and I was worried he'd lose his arrow score if it fell out. The judge looked through my scope and stopped the shoot. Turns out the chap's arrow had broken at the point on contact and the judge marked it, hammered out the pile and allowed the shoot to resume. I got a lot of angry stares, but in the end, the judge said I'd done the right thing. And while the archer was disappointed about breaking an arrow, he was happy he got the score. Normally, shoots go off without a hitch, but judges are there to help. My beef is with comps the don't supply large enough work parties to help find lost arrows, move targets, etc. I find that slows down a shoot more than anything.

Are we going to have a timed 2 minutes for 3 arrows then all change together? Or are we going to shoot in 6 arrow ends in 4 minute time frame please say it is this .

| Leigh, I'm not questioning the role that judges have at a shoot and the contribution they make, but more of the time they take to clear themselves from the shooting area. From recent experience, all archers are ready to shoot and behind the shooting line but for some reason the judge(s) are ambling back to the line before blowing their whistle..if they were to speed their walk up a little, over the period of a York, say, an hour could be crimmped off the finnishing time.

| Hello Everybody In my vast experiance of one Double Fita, organised by Rivernook Bowmen. I found the Judges to be excellent and the field team were so fast and professional they were finding my arrows before I could ask them to look. 4 mins for 6 arrows is so generous that the Judges were asked to drop the mid point comfort break which they happily did. We just did not need it. So I would be happy to see a time constraint applied. It focuses everybody and keeps the day moving. Bye bye for now
