Herts County Weekend...terrible shoot for me...

It was all looking so good, happy i could put in two 1200 yorks from previous practice .............. but it wasn't to be.

Blustery wind & serious crosswinds on saturday made aiming hard work.

The shot dragged on as people were trying to get arrows away between gusts.

managed to scrape together a 1056, which put me fourth, but i was so disheartened by the weather & the delays I was considering staying at home sunday, however I have made that mistake before & the weathers cleared up so I foolishly dragged myself back to the shooting ground for sunday.

When it got to 1 o clock & we'd only done 4 dozen at the 100 I decided enough was enough & packed up, I was wet & cold & very annoyed. The Herts/Beds match was being decided on the scores for 100 yards, however some brave(some would say slightly mad) souls were determined to finish the York(good luck to them!) So I packed up & went home.

Seen as musgrove junior was due this weekend & the wife spent most of two days in a field with me & nothing happened, Its been a bit of a let down all round!

So no MB scores for me

No baby

& soaking wet kit to deal with.

Bugger.......

well done on braving the weather! im assuming you go the nasties before it made its way over to beds. a few of us (not talented enough to be in the beds squad ) managed to squeeze (most of) a windsor in yesterday before it got really horrible....although the last 3 dozen were quite wet....oh for some of those waterproof score sheets lol.

Chin up, Simon. The weather was bad for most this weekend, so you weren't alone. And soon, you and Mrs M are gonna have a bouncing baby archer and you'll forget about this weekend!

You won't want to hear this but it actually got better in the afternoon . Yep we all got pretty bad actual scores but the same can be said of anyone shooting this weekend, however, I think yours sound pretty OK to me given the conditions.

I know the prize giving (well, the raffle part) started at 6:12pm and the last medals were given out an hour later.

I guess the shoot itself finished about 5:30'ish which wasn't too bad given that the 100yds finished at 2pm. We re-started at 2:30pm (despite some rumours that everyone wanted to pack up). With a depleted field the pace certainly speeded up.

As James said, it did get a better in the afternoon, the wind died a bit at 80yds but it was still raining. By 60yds it was quite calm and I finally took my waterproofs off (more as a gesture of defiance) for the last end.

Simon
