Verily and forsooth, methinks that English Bowman had better get his self over there.

I would as I have done this sort of thing before, but I should already be in two places that day. The Hampshire Field champs at Overton (Where I will be) and a display at Fort Cumberland. Since I have a full time job I think that I'll give this one a miss. (Still tempted though!)

Best of luck to those who go along, but a word of warning.

My club was approached last year by an agency on behalf of the makers of "Doomsday", which was in the cinemas recently.Over a three week period, they asked us for a few archers , then six, then twelve. They would supply the bows , but there would be no arrows allowed, health and safety and all that.It started out as one day then became two, and finally a week.Originally we were to be in crowd scenes, and then it was to be in selected shots with the "stars" for continuity purposes, so make up/costume etc, and yet another day.
Finally 2 days before it was all to happen, a quick email to say that the director had changed his mind, and we weren't needed at all.Apparently Malcolm McDowell was brought in for a cameo role, and there was no budget left for us!

A friend of mine in the industry said he never banks on being involved in a film until he's on set and the camera rolls.

And No, I haven't been to see the finished film!

One of my club members attended the casting and was signed up as an extra. They were going to send him to longbow training, but as he's been shooting for ages, they asked if HE could help train the others.

Sadly, because the trees are past their best, they've postponed the filming til next year.

Watch this space.
