| All old blokes So is your archery club all old blokes (55+) or do you have any 20 and 30 somethings that like a laugh? Getting a bit fed up at my club with all the older blokes who've been doing it for years and are the establishment (neither of these are their fault) as opposed to a club that is full of 20 and 30 somethings who are up for a laugh and not as old as my dad...... This means there is a social side but not one I'm interested in...... looked at several local clubs and all are similar ..... (similar to the bowls club too) Oh and when there are younger ones they are ten yo. So does your clubs have a healthy 20 / 30 yo contingent or have I taken up an old man's sport...... |

| WOW! that's some statement to make, about the old. I find it the other way round most of the time. Quote:

| Maybe it's different for my club being field based, but we have a good spread from 8 to 80. 6 junior girls from 10 to 15 that I can recall, and more boys. Quite a high percentage of women too. One of the junior boys comes with his grandma & granddad who both shoot, in their early 70's. Sadly, the NFAS family membership doesn't include grandparent/grandchild. I think we should suggest that be changed at the AGM. £40 for two adults & children is a pretty good deal. Maybe the fact that we are based in Sherwood forest, a couple of miles from the major oak appeals to the juniors?

| We have a mixture of ages from 10 to 83 and everything in between. Ladies and gents, families, kiddies. The officers of the club are all 55+ but they have the experience and drive to make sure things get done. Our younger members (with a couple of exceptions) seem more interested in turning up, shooting and going home without making any other kind of contribution to the club.

| 45s t0 60s,<<>> compound shooters in our club, always found that the really miserable buggers with not an ounce of humour ,well in our club that is are the blinken longbowers, traditionalists always telling us what proper bows are,yer right, a stick and a bit of string, ok rant over. hahahahhahaha |

| we have a mixture, although the regulars at the club are *mostly* in the 20-40 bracket. On the club committee 4 of us are sub-30 years old, whilst others are older and wiser ![]() As one of the younger members of the club, and certainly the youngest member of the committee, I don't feel there are really any age barriers at the club, I can happyily have a chat with any member regardless of age, and I don't think there's much correlation between how much of a competitive/ social archer you are and how old you are.
