| She appeared also on the T V ( Richard and Judy ) about it and made a lot of sense. 'Common Sense' being the thing she said seems to have been lost!..... ![]() Paul.... ![]()

| You're right. I'm at the age where I'm considering my career options and for whatever reason teaching just seems to crop up again and again. Then I look at what being a teacher has become: the child protection, the health and safety, the fear of doing anything at all in case it is misconstrued - and I wonder if I'll have a chance to actually help people. Very sad state of affairs. What happened to rewarding effort, chastising naughtiness and competitive teamwork?

1. No photos by parents at all. All photos taken by staff, and posted on web-site, so parents could then choose from. This is dangerous for two reasons, it makes the teachers seem more important than a parent plus a kid will assume 'anything' a teacher does is correct as they are more trusted than the parents. 2. All entrants in a race get a certificate - because everyone is a winner. 3. No 3-legged race for the kids for health and saftey reasons, so a friendship race instead, which involves running along with your friend holding a piece of ribbon. 4. Parents expected to do a 3-legged race! Now there is more chance of an unfit parent droping dead trying to run than a kid getting injured. Wow - no wonder kids don't trust anyone, and when they get to take exams they are all suffering from stress. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here`s an e-mail i received recently. More idiocy that`s happening all around us. | although esther ranszen started an exceptional movement. it has ,like she says lost its common sense. the photography issue with archery, is totally ludicrious and we have lost many archery volounteers and coaches through uk sports and other governing bodies duty of total lack of common sense. child protection updates for example..... how many more updates can we have. children and vunerable adults will have armed guards before much longer. pete |

| Could the GNAS provide a single PROVEN case of child molestation that has taken place on an archey field. The amount of time, people and of course money they spend on "updates" you would think that there were more perverts than archers!! What is all this no picture nonsense. They are classing us ALL as perverts and I for one take great exception at that. If some twerp told me that I could not take a picture of my own child I dont think I could control my reaction!!(probaly get a prison sentence). If we are to believe the do gooders etc there are perverts on every street corner waiting for your child. I am 60yrs old and when I was a child we were warned about "not taking sweets from strangers" but I dont recall ever being offered one!! Before someone says that years ago things were not as dangerous as they are now I say one thing--Moors Murders !! When I started archery, helping a youngster was normal and nobody thought of any "risk" in doing it. Now that has all changed and I for one will not get anywhere near a child and as far as teaching archery -- forget it. Leave it to the people with CP qualifications. I am glad that I will not be on this planet when todays children grow up. They will never be able to pass on stories to their children about their childhood because they wont have had a REAL childhood to tell stories about. The do gooders want all childeren to be equal with no winners and no losers--what rubbish is that. The first thing that you are told at school is " be a good LOSER". I am not going to say what I think of that comment. My children are grown up but if they were still at school I would be having words about the "all equal mentality". It saddens me to watch this country being overun by do gooders,PC brigade,Health and safety zealots and child protection rules and updates. God help us!! |

| The CPP is a complete waste of time. I pains me to ask members at our club to be CRB'd in order to help out at have-a-go's etc just in case there's someone under the age of 18 present. In order to protect ourselves now, we have introduced a rule that states that a junior cannot be a member of our club unless their parent/guardian is a member as well, and MUST be with them at all times. As far as i'm aware, nothing has ever happened within archery with regards to child abuse let alone our club, however one sentence quoted to me a long time ago still sends a shiver down my spine, and i quote... "If a child ever says that an adult has 'touched' them, no matter how innocent the words, people will always assume the worst and believe the child over the adult". All i can say is, where were/are the parents? It's their child and their responsibility, not mine...

| When i went to do my first child protection course i was asked" why are you here "and i answered "to see if its too much hassle we will get rid of the junior club "and the person on the course was shocked , but that was the main reason and even now its a hassle .So comes the crunch if no adult wants to be CRB'd no junior club!!!!!!![]() Its about time we took a long look at what "experts" say think and do and then tell them to go away or at least live on the same planet as the rest of usvery sorry ![]()
