| Reading the EAF website the selection criteria is there: For Senior Outdoor Euronations / International Tournaments (at least 3 scores from) Record Status Fita or Fita stars shot in current year. The implication being highest 3 scores goes? Is this not the case?

| Unlike the GBR selection there is no publication of who applied, with what scores and from which events. All that we see in England is a list of names and surely that cannot be used for selection for the Commonwealth games? With such a large sum of money involved I think the system needs to be transparent and open - I cannot imagine that the selectors would want to hide the information anyway. It is just a matter of publishing it on the website so everyone can see. With the Scottish system everyone is on a level playing field as they attend the same tournaments (with one optional) this way weather is not such an influence and as of June this year the Scottish archers know which specific events they need to enter in 2009. Surely this is a much better system for all, irrespective of which home nation you wish to represent. This will mean any archer interested in representing their Country can try out knowing that if they obtain the scores they are in with a chance. Remember we are not talking about GBR selection here but Home Nation selection for the Commonwealth Games.

| Do remember that the selection process has not been started. The Sport England funds are towards running a squad, and invitations to the squad were on the basis of national rankings. It is likely that the composition of the squad will change as people develop or fade. Selection for the Commonwealth Games teams will be transparent and fair, with the criteria laid out when finalised.

Going back to my original post - not a criticism of any procedure, I just think the SAA have got it spot on and published criteria in a timely manner.

| Only 8 archers can be in the top 8 - straight into the 1/4 finals then - it'll be a short day for the archers ![]()

| I didnt' realise that since Archery has only been in the Commonwealth Games once previously in 1982 with 11 Countries taking part. With England holding the gents record (Mark Blenkarne) and New Zealand the ladies (Neroli Fairhall). I would argue that as it is such a rare event it is important to allow as many Countries to take part as possible. It was also interesting to note that Archery is the only sport in the schedule for 2010 yet to be actually given a program - http://www.cwgdelhi2010.org/games.html

| Shame it's not in for Edinburgh in 2014 (and I know the SAA worked hard to have the organisers include it). Wonder how they will feel after the World Cup final.

| Well may be it can all be followed up by running The 3rd Commonwealth Archery Championship in Scotland 2nd Commonwealth Archery Championship - 2006 - Jamshedpur, India 1st Commonwealth Archery Championship March,95 Delhi, India I thought the first one was held in Australia,. I'm sure there must be someone longer in the tooth than me who can enlighten us. Edit to add: Commonwealth Archery Championship was started to make up for it not being in the Games, but didn't get continued by the Commonwealth Countries.
