Archery Secret Signal Needed

Don't know whether to enter this for The Gold Flinger Fonz Award as I'm sure it is close!!

Passing through King's Cross station on Thursday my eye was caught by a picture of a target. Programmed as we are to the famous colours I did a double take and peered down for a better look.

Unfortunately the target was part of a logo on a young ladies jumper who was looking back at me with a terrified "OMG Axe Murderer" look on her face.

Sensing her discomfort I obviously wanted to reassure her of our (unknown to her) affinity so I winked at her and walked on round the corner (just by the half buried trolley at Platform 9 3/4 if you know the area).

It then dawned on me that far from making things better I had probably just traumatised her for life so I turned and went back to offer a feeble "I was just attracted by your logo cos I also do archery".

So ...... having gone away ... the Axe murder comes back for another go!!!!

Poor poor girl, if you read this I hope you realised I am just a friendly, northern, archer and not an axe murderer. You did give me a little smile as I walked away for the second time but that may well have been an involuntary twitch as you slid into fear induced paralysis.

We really need a Star Trek type secret hand signal to use in such situations.

Any suggestions!!!

First of all brilliant!

I'd suggest hand somewhere behind/to the side of head in a "just released" position, bow arm extended.

Think of it as a form of social telegraph.

I would have thought that the best secret signals were barely discernable from day to day gestures or motions.

Perhaps something along the lines of squinting into the distance and then mouthing an obscenity (something I did a lot on the line)

Try adopting a tab / release aid as part of your everyday apparel : nothing is more attractive than a chocolate addiction or a cavalier elite (alledgedly)

You could extend this to other interest groups:-
Heavy metal enthusiasts - standing with legs apart strumming something imaginary by their waist with the right hand while moving the left hand up and down.
Dog trainers - bending knees and slapping them with both hands while panting
Call centre cold callers - ploughing on through the crowd ignoring everyone.
Footballers - dragging knuckles on the ground

Could be quite confusing and hard work for all the heavy metal, footballers who also are, cold callers for their dog training services.

Sounds perfectly normal to me......Air guitar is a very popular pastime. I reakon it might even make it into the 2012 olympics!!!

But we already have the traditional (even if its only a myth) archers two-fingered salute! It works too, do it to some stranger and you'll often get one back.
