Pesonally I think the whole Robin Hood & green tights image does archery no favours so get it off our screens and keep it off I say and help archery in updating it's image to a modern, competitive, cool, sport.

If you want only modern competitive stuff I would agree, but if the film makers could only do a proper historical job which does not make us want to throw the TV out of the window, what is wrong with that ? There are lots of folk out there who are interested in the older (dare I say it) romantic image of archery. Joe Public knows a bow when he sees it - and it is not a clockwork thing with appendages.

After every Robin Hood film there has always been a queue of 9 year old boys wanting to take up archery - but after this last one ! well ! Now we give them a training bow and they tell us that Robin Hood didn't have a bow like that. (Saracen bow brought back from the Crusades, indeed ! It was a Hungarian horse archer's bow he was using; filming was in Hungary) Whatever next ? Hmmmm ..... when they made a film in the 50's Robin used a steel bow !
