| As a recurve archer I had a bit of a hang-up when shooting 100 yards, so I use to practise occaisionally at 120yards. The sight went on the back of the bow (rather than forwards), but I got a good enough sight mark. I would have thought that with carbon arrows, most archers could get an extra 10 metres.

| Certainly some can, and some will find it easy no doubt. But for those of us who struggle to get six on at 90...

| If you want to make things harder it seems smaller faces are much more sensible, and you don't run into the safety issues. However, personally I'm rather unlikely ever to be into rounds that are just made up unless they are fun rounds (balloons and that) for fun shoots.

| Pilgrim Archers at Boston run a York (county champs?) where as a diversion while the results are prepared there is a shoot at 100m, possibly recurve only, both ladies and gents. I can't remember the details now, but I think there is an elimination phase where you are out if you can't get a hit with three arrows and then it goes to best gold or something. I have seen ladies reach it!

This raises the point that shooting at longer distances simply requires the ability to draw a more powerful bow. If a test of greater skill is required, simply make the targets smaller, and allow all archers to compete irrespective of strength. Greygoose

| We did try this one at our club - 1 recurve, 1 compound and 1 longbow at 120m. V. embarassing as it was the longbow that hit the gold first. A fluke but first nonetheless.

| I don't think a round like this would ever be popular. I would guess that over 90% of archers, both recurve or compound would not be able to aim normally at the target using their current equipment set-up and technique. Who in their right mind would start changing things to the detrement of their normal shooting just to shoot a none recognised round ? |
