I hate Oxford weather. Spanish or Italian archery clubs?

Folks,

Enough is enough. I officially vote Oxford having the worst weather in the world. I am convinced Siberia would be a more enjoyable place to shoot my recurve. What keeps me in Oxford is this PhD, and the fact Oxford Archers is such a great group of people. But come on, this weather is sickening. I hate it.

So it leads me to ask, does anyone know of some of the better Spanish clubs (Spain, heaven on Earth)....or in Italy? My latest craze with google has been "Spain + postdoc + job + biology'.

And as far as training camps in warm sunny places, any ideas? My eyes again are focused on Spain (possibly southern Italy, but my boy Frangilli is from the north).

Peace,
Yannis

Sorry you would miss out by a number of inches per year for rainfall to places up in the North East, North West, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. It's them there hills that attract the bad weather I'm sure.

You can have our share if you wish, and we will have the better temperatures you get down south in exchange.

To be honest I'm with you, with thoughts of warmer sunnier climates. It does seem very appealing, especially when we seem to be having longer and longer spells of dismal grey skies and copious amounts of water falling upon us all.

Oxford waether, that's nowt!

You think Oxford has bad weather. Try living in the North East.
Watch the top right corner of the map during the next weather forecast, then count your blessings!
Almost a third of the local tournaments have been postponed or cancelled this season & the majority of the ones that went ahead were 'character buiding' to say the least.
I think we could all do with a break from it.

I must say Yorkshire was very lucky for weather this weekend with both the Westerns at Adel and the clout at Harrogate having sun - something we have not seen for weeks.
Gloopy mud for the clout and I don't know what the school will think about their field but I have claimed my longbow white tassel.

Could be high time for a new discipline: Aquatic Archery.

Not quite sure what that would be but at this rate it's the future.

Yannis, perhaps you would not find Oxford so cold if you did not wear shorts all the time???

Just a suggestion...

Spanish clubs

There are some. Here's the Spanish GNAS

Real Federacion Espaņola de Tiro con Arco

I was considering relocating to Marbella (where my parents live) and found that there were depressingly few archery clubs in marbella anyway

But in Barcelona and Madrid there are some

Good luck if you emigrate

My parents are delighted to have relocated and if you are serious I am sure can give you some pointers on do's and do not's

They say the weather (obviously) but also the food and lack of traffic is also hugely beneficial

But you should learn Spanish before going out there, it'll really help you

Adam
