English Archery Federation - Under New Management

The EAF AGM took place yesterday. The chief event was the acceptance of a new constitution, which defines more closely what has to be done, and should remove some of the problems of the past.
There was also a change of personnel. The Officers are now:-
Chairman - Nick Beeson
Treasurer - Sheila Harris
Secretary - Alan Logan

We decided to send a team to the "Euronations" in Guernsey in July (details in the Tournaments forum - PROMPT ACTION REQUIRED IF INTERESTED) - the team manager will be Ted Burnham.

On teh down side, there will be no English Championships or Longbow Championships in 2006. We felt we wanted to get them right, rather than just continue them.

You will appreciate that this is only the start. We meet again in three months, by which time we will have clearer ideas about what EAF should be doing. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me (nick.beeson@btopenworld.com), PM me, or comment in this thread. With Dave's permission, I shall post occasional bulletins here as well.

Great news Nick. Congratulations on your election to chairman. I'm sure things will now be a lot better.

Can I ask what you mean by 'promt action'

Rgards,
David.

Are there going to be minutes from the meeting published online in the near future? I'd be interested to see what all was settled and took place there.

Great news that things are moving forward (even if it means culling some things initially). And the fact that England is getting a team manager - that a huge move forward!

GNAS is the governing body for the UK. Individual nation teams are managed by the national organisations. In some (most) instances, this is the same as the oragnisation through which clubs affiliate to GNAS. The Northern Ireland Archery Society, for example, would organise any NI team.
England is a bit of a difficult case, as there are a number of English regions, through which the clubs affiliate to GNAS, but no overall English society which serves this purpose.

So the EAF exists outside the GNAS hierarchy, to support the organisation of English teams and events...

In most international situations, the EAF doesn't play a part, though there are events like the Euronations, and (if it ever happens again) archery at the Commonwealth Games, where I guess the EAF would be sourcing an English team.

Disclaimer: All of this is AFAIK and IMO. If anyone knows any different, I'll defer to greater knowledge.

I suppose they will be asking for more cash from the regions again, then they will produce another updated badge for sale!

Just thinking about the next Commonwealth Games. If archery is included, will we be sending separate teams from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Dont suppose I'll make the England team but my Granny always claimed she was Welsh. Worth a try!!

If archery does make it into the next Commonwealth Games, will GB members be allowed in the selection procedure for England, unlike in the past? Or will it remain a strictly amateur event?
