Tournament Payments

No, this is not a whinge about the price of tournaments (I feel that most of the time we get off quite cheaply) but rather a question of how payments are made. I shot the Face-to-Face in Amsterdam last year and the only thing I did to enter was submit the online entry form, make a payment with Paypal and get myself a ticket to Holland. Have any other tournament organisers given thought to making this an option for entries? Since most things are organised on computers anyway, it would make sense to have an online entry form, Paypal to send entry fees and online booking of campsites, etc.

Or does GNAS have a rule that prevents this? (...it wouldn't surprise me...)

Sounds like a great Idea, I keep losing my cheque book. In fact I only use it to pay for tournament fees these days

In Finland we do that. There are only few tournaments where they collect payments in cash.

paying for my one and only comp was as simple as giving the fee to our club treasurer who then issued a cheque drawn on the club account.

but yes paypal would be a good idea - the paypal cut would need to be taken into account....

That would probably roughly equate to the same price as a stamp...? Yes, it would need to be taken into account, and I'd happily pay the small surcharge.

A lot of people might find Paypal more convenient to their lifestyle. I know I certainly would - I barely ever to snail-mail these days, unless to enter tournaments, return wrongly addressed post to the sender or send things I've sold on Ebay!

I think using paypal or any other from of electronic transfer of funds is a great idea. I have in the past had 3 cheques go missing for various comps - highly frsutrating.

I've also had cheques cashed 3 months after the event as well as cash taken off me on the day! But that's another story

Paypal would be a fab idea - no chance of bouncing cheques then (unless it's an e-cheque of course!!)

paypal would definately be a quick and easy way to pay for tournies, i'd certainly use it.

I think it should be an option though rather than the norm, there's still a lot of people out there who don't like transfering money online.
