| Off the front, unless you want to stiffen them significantly. If you cut off the back, it's important you know what you're doing. Length of bow is irrelevant. |

| I was told ACE's have to be cut from the front only. |

| i know this is a bit off topic but i was wondering how people cut carbon arrows to avoid breathing the dust? |

| If you worried about breathing particulate carbon then just wear a dust mask which you can get from B&Q. |

| I have in the past cut down ally's with a fine blade juior hacksaw but wouldn't dream of doing the same with Ace's. Problems are, splitting the carbon wrap and getting each arrow EXACTLY the same length. Most archery shops have an arrow cutter and charge about 50p for cutting each shaft. Many clubs have an electric cutter too (mine dos). Cutting off the back of barreled shafts has a much greater effect on the spine and can only be done up to a maximum of I think an inch. If you ever buy used Ace's or X10's always check that they haven't been cut off the back, they will probably be too stiff.

Shafts should be cut with a very straight, high speed cutting disc. Once cut, the inside should be de-burred and the whole lot cleaned. |
