Question Club Record's Keeper

Can anyone enlighten me as to what is 'done' with club records other than for internal use??? As I recently acquired this position, I wondered if I need to submit scores to GNAS or anywhere else for that matter!!

There are various odds and sods:

Classification awards (if your club awards them)
Handicap improvment medal, Arrow Awards
Tournament organisers often want to to know age, sex, handicap and GNAS No.
Handicap shoots of any kind need handicaps.
Records - Club, County, Regional, National,World!
Six gold ends awards.
County Squad bods often want to know who's where.

er...

But the main function is for archers "have I made first class yet?"

Not at my club... ...certain members are soooooooo not supportive!!! And people wonder why new members leave! Personally I'd encourage new members with a flair for the sport, especially if they compete as this promotes the club in itself! I remember archers thinking that Phoenix Bowmen of Halifax had closed until we started competing.

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox

Do you look after Juniors as well - if so do not forget about JAWS (Junior Awards Scheme) see GNAS web pages. And also Association for Archery in Schools - they award badges for achievement even to club juniors - see their web pages as well.

Thumbs up Records officer

I have a written J/D from my club.. which I can't find.. I wrote it!!
most tasks have been mentioned by Moderator. I work out handicaps - we run a handicap club shoot every year- gives the learners a chance to win something. I also run our new awards scheme especially to address the problem of new archers leaving after one/two years. Mixing it with all the experts puts them right off- we don't want that we need to keep them coming -- and eventually going-- to interclub comps. Keeps the bigger clubs viable too.
