Advice Neede - Drawing a Recurve Bow

Just to explain. I know how to do this having done a lot of recurve in my lifetiime but it has been 7 years since I shot it last and I seem to have forgotten exactly how much pressure to put on each of the drawing fingers.

Is it maximum pressure on the middle finger, somewhat less on the lower finger and even less on the top one? Or should I be trying for a more equal pressure on each.

I seem to be having erratic releases which I put down to poor draw and release technique.

Advice much appreciated.

I think most variations should work, but most people have less pressure on their ring finger with the index at number 2 and the middle at numbre one pressure.

Yep, what Barry said. My callouses tell the same story -- quite pronounced on middle and index fingers, none on ring finger.

I don't remember it being like that when I shot last. Perhaps I'm getting senile. Looks like I have to learn to draw from scratch again.

I saw it written down in percentage terms once!!!! Imagine checking that out at full draw with fisherman's scales???
If you don't think about it,I believe the hand/brain will sort it out. After all, you don't worry about how much weight is on which toe when walking; unless there's a blister on one.

I don't think this is true in all cases, and certainly not mine! I have a huge callous on my ring finger but no marks on the other two, probably due to having the wrong amount of pressure on each finger. It's something i'm trying to solve at the moment..... unsuccessfully!

Could it be that the ring finger doesn't get hardened up so much in your daily life? Perhaps the callous is due to that finger being softer so to speak.
Quite often, too , that finger has the string across the pad where the others get the pressure in the crease of a jiont. Just a thought.

No, i have abnormal fingers! my ring finger is almost as long as my middle finger, with my index finger much shorter, so the string is just behind the first joint of my middle and ring finger and on the pad of my index finger. It makes it diffifult to get the pressure more on my index finger than my ring finger without causing tension in my forearm....

And a callous on your ring finger is bad because...?
My first and second fingers show very little wear. The third always callouses. This is what I would expect - it's further from the shaft, and the string will take a more extreme angle across it.
