Nocking with the bow sideways is a habit the coaches are probably going to spend the next 5 weeks trying to break me of my son off. Hopefully he won't try and nock one upside down again though

i usually manage to not touch anyone on the shooting line but my longrod used to wander over to the right when knocking untill i got my clicker.

i tend to say sweary words out loud if i do a bad shot. or sigh loudly

i have had someone comment on my singing and humming on the line!

Ahh bless, I watched a girl of around 10 have her bow turned up the right way yesterday.

We have already started nocking upright but did the first round sideways. it was explained it's not normal though and why.

Had a similar thing whilst shooting inside today (due to rain), longbow archer on my right managed to hit my bow 3 times during the morning whilst nocking his arrows and meant I spent more time concentrating on what he was doing than what I was doing - he decided to then move targets further on down the line as he was only practicing and not scoring, about 20 mins later I heard a heated conversation going on down the line and it would appear he managed to hit another archer on the head just as he reached full draw !

Tough. The rules say:

she will immediately retire behind the waiting line.
I know a lot of people shooting GNAS competitions seem to think it's a courtesy to wait for someone on the line, but in FITA competition you're not supposed to do it.

That was my thought , I will not say who it was that had a problem ( mb archer)

but some people think that they are above the rest of us and that they do anything they want and the rest have to follow the rules.

winds me up something rotten

Like most things in life it's just common sense. Keep your bow upright and pointing forward at all times (so the longrod dosn't interfere with anyone), keep silent on the line, keep the mobile off and dont go on or off the shooting line if the person next to you is at, or nearing full draw.

This is an interesting thread and both sets of views are valid for different reasons and under different circumstances.

My own view is that if you are truly focused on what you are doing you will not notice what anybody else is doing anyway. Appreciated is somebody actualy hits you that's something different.

I have seen certain badminton players complain bitterly about people walking across behind a court when play is in progress. They are always the players who use this as an excuse for their poor performance, what they realy need to learn is how to focus.

I think most people dont posess the concentration where they can focus so that nothing can interfere. People seem to spend most time on equipment, then form then the mental game. Terrible shame for them, but makes em easier to beat

I don't mind if someone leaves the line or stays on it when I'm at full draw.

Once while shooting a FITA 25 competition, I'd put two arrows into the X and was at full draw with the third when the person next to me stepped off the line. This wouldn't have bothered me if they hadn't stopped suddenly on realising that I was at full draw, and were posed comically with their rear foot still on the line.

Click-boom-seven.

My fault really, but still.
