shooting line etiquette

I was at a shoot, last weekend, when a guy answered his mobile phone at the firing line ( he was a beginner and it was an informal shoot, but still....). This got me wondering what is the worst Faux Paux you have either done or seen at an archery club is?

also what happened to the offender?

It's also frowned upon to use the word 'firing' - it should be shooting, there's no 'fire' involved in shooting a bow. Thought I'd better tell you now rather than have your coach try and make you eat a bow....

Being a left hander, not realising that I was stool too close to the right hander behind me, I touched him at full draw. He wasnt very happy with the miss that resulted.

It could equally be said that he stood too close to you. He did have the good humour to laugh about it though

Someone swinging their bow around so that limbs or stabilisers hit another bow. Worst if it happens at full draw.

The mobile phone thing reminds me of the time someone decided to keep their phone on and put it on silent. They stuck it in their quiver pocket and forgot about it. Picture the line when the phone went off... in a quiver pocket full of loose change and other moveable items... cccllllaaaattteeerrrr.

shot a fita last year where a chap ask me not to step of the line when he is at full draw, ( lefty facing me )

fair enough !!!

but he was about 5 bosses away.

winded me up when he jumped of the line with the person closest to him at full draw.

Show some courtesy at all times. Dont move, keep quiet and follow the rules and have some common sense.

It's the keeping quiet bit that helps!! As cakemeister mentioned in another post - it's a bit off putting when the archer next to you gives a running commentry of where the arrows landed, whether they were good or bad etc.

Breaking wind at the Warwickshire indoor championships whilst on the line. Trouble was there was no backstop netting much to the chagrin of those hapless few who should have been concentrating on their form rather than listening to what was going on around them.
