As far as have-a-gos are concerned, I understand that the event and date need to minuted in official club meeting minutes for GNAS insurance to apply. If there is any doubt, best advice is to contact GNAS. Check out the code of practice info here on the GNAS web site: http://www.gnas.org/dyncat.cfm?catid=15546

| AFAIK both beginners and have-a-gos are covered under the general GNAS insurance. There are some restrictions though. For example, beginners (non-members of GNAS) are covered only for shooting on a recognised beginner's course, and that can be for no more than 6 sessions. A recognised beginners course is, I think, one that's been set up by the club and noted in the minutes of a club meeting (think it only has to be a committee meeting). There are some rules about have-a-gos (layout of range etc), but I'm not familiar with them I'm afraid. And you're not covered at all for setting up popinjay masts... |

| LMP Have a go can be a bit of a faf as far as insurance is concerned. My solution to this is to use jelly bows, wooden flu flu arrows a stand with old cuddly toys hanging for targets and a tarpaulin as an arrow catcher. The flu flus must have blunts on of course. I sugest this as an alternative to a proper range set up with safety netting etc. I've done loads of have a go's over the years and seen loads that just do not come up to scratch. The general public tend to be very stupid and as an organiser I've seen some very harrowing things happen. Always best to err on the side of safety. Now I'll wait for the rest of the purple brigade to ask what a flu flu is cos they like the sound of it. |

| Sounds like the sort of thing you you would shoot up a chimney to get the soot out. |

| GNAS insurance as far as club archery goes. But as for my business, public liability "Have-a-Goes" etc. scUK to the tune of £5m each. In fact after we had been presented with our first coaching certificate (Nov 2000), we were strongly advised to take cover out with scUK, as GNAS cover was not all it was made out to be. We did not question that comment.
