I am sure there are members who may not be able to contribute to the flowers for one reason or another (including me because I am presently "archer without bank account"). However, I think it would be a nice gesture all around if we could include a card from all the members of AIUK, representing our wonderful community as a whole.

Would that be an unreasonable request?

Not at all, I was intending that the flowers come from the membership of AIUK

A very compassionate gesture, and one I for one am very willing to contribute to. I know it will mean a lot to Mel to realise there are a lot of good people out there as well as the bad ones.

I assume that within AIUK we will collect much more than even a large bouquet costs; presumably any excess could go towards replacing Mel's mobile phone. I know how much I rely on mine, and for someone in her position it must be even more essential.

We could do this..

the plan was to donate 25% of the 'profit' to charity - the rest being split for prizes, this could be added to the collection.

Sorry to put a damper on things but let's not get carried away here. While people have been very generous in their donations I don't think there'd be quite enough left over to fund a new mobile phone! But we'll see

Hi all

I was with Mel this weekend seeing the coach. Your regards were passed on and to say she was suprised is the least of it. To be honest it was kind of surreal to come all the way from Norfolk and find that someone in Teweksbury had read the article and posted about it on here!

I'm sure Mel won't mind me letting you all know she's doing ok and says thanks to everyone.
