grades of archer

I keep seeing mentined different grades of archer (e.g. third class, 1st class, grand master bowmen). Could somebody explain what each grade means and what you have to shoot to achieve each one. I have looked but couldnt find any information anywhere?

Thanks,

P.A.

PA,

You can shoot most rounds and be ranked. Three formally scored rounds at each scoring level gives you the grading. Some rounds you can only get a 3rd class on (like the short Windsor on this months AIUK GP). A standard Windsor can only get you to a 2nd Class (716 for second, 619 for third, IIRC). You don't need to shoot 100yards to get on the ladder. You can get a 3rd class on a York, but may spend a lot of time looking for your arrows.

Should make 3rd class this weekend. A few more Nationals and I should make 2nd. Want to try an get 1st class by the end of the season.

Anyone got a link to the GNAS rounds and scores pages?

Sponge

Our very own robbo has produced an excellent table of rounds which include all the required score levels for each classification - click the link at the bottom of any of his posts.
