| Alan.....why? Is it factually wrong....is it the acting..or just crap? |
| |||||
| can be factually very wrong. also gives people a false idea about it all - i read last year that there were 200,000 tests on back log due to american polive watching it and making wrong assumptions about test - thus ending up just sending everything in for tests that may not even be suitable. not only can it be a waste of time but also money - tests like DNA aint cheap. and the amount of time you get what degree do you do? Forensic Science OHHHHHHH so you must watch CSI? grrrrrr (its not just CSI either. i'll admit shows like that can be entertaining but the scientist/cop/lawyer role all rolled into one is sometimes a bit much)

| I also hate CSI. Not that I have a background in forensics, that is. The scripts are so crappy and formulaic that even when given to actually pretty good actors (like several of those in CSI:NY) it makes them look bad. As for this particular episode, it lead to a huge row over on Archery Talk. Apparently a great deal of emphasis is placed on the fact that anyone could pick up the murder weapon (a Bowtech of some kind) and kill at extreme range with no practice. |

| 'Bones' is another one where they have a magical computer that instants reconstructs the evidence and presents it all with neat graphics to a bunch of underwear models pretending to be scientists. How do criminals get away with anything these days, they only have to fart at the crime scene and these forensic guys have got them ![]() ![]() |

You also see 'magic computers' in a most of the modern 'spy'-genre programming like Alias and 24, mostly operated by someone with some sort of headset sticking out of their ear, which is used to relay the answers to every question the 'agent in the field' has instantly, as though the internet has the exact answer to every question without having to take half a day to wade through all the rubbish! Anyone know where I can buy one of these machines (yeah, I know, Hollywood!), as it would make my job a hell of a lot easier!?
