| First Competition Having just read someone else having their first competition I thought it might be a good idea to say the same!! My partner and I are both entering the 'St george's Arcgery Club' western round on the 19th June (Harrogate), this is somewhat of a huge step as we've not been shooting long at all but you've got to start sometime eh? I'm really looking forward to it and have had lots of advice (and the initial press ganging!!) from Lez and Neil at Custom Archery, I hope to put some faces to the names of people chatting on here too. p.s. where is the best place / book / site... etc to find out about the different rounds?? Thanks in advance to all who reply. |

| RE: First Competition The GNAS website has a document section where you can download / view the rules of shooting, that pretty much covers everything. Otherwise talk to other archers at your club / let the other archers you'll be shooting with know it's your first competition and they'll be happy to help and guide youThe GNAS website is www.gnas.org Good luck !!!!

| RE: First Competition When you join the GNAS, you should get a pair of very useful laminated cards which cover the various rounds you're likely to shoot, imperial and metric scoring, etiquette etc. They're very useful and have a permanent place in my box. ![]() Have a look here too... http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/splomas.../SPL/files.htm Lots of information in various formats. You should find what you need.

| RE: First Competition Hi Tracey! The GNAS rules of shooting, containing details of all the rounds, can be downloaded from here: http://www.gnas.org/target/aboutus.cfm A Western is 4 dozen arrows at 60 yards and 4 dozen arrows at 50 yards, on a 122cm face (the same size we use at Phoenix Bowmen). That might sound a bit daunting, but you and Guy have been shooting so well that I reckon you'll do OK. Good luck at the shoot! Tim | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| RE: First Competition I bought a Samick Agulla riser with W&W limbs (now 30lbs but i still haven't been out with them yet!!), I have a Beiter pressure button, a metal arrow rest, a 2nd hand sight - i'm not up on the names really (at all). Oh and I have a 30" beiter long rod. Guy has a similar set up apart from it cost more - lol, he got the matrix riser and a shibuyi button - as i said before i'm not up on the names so long as i shoot straight!! I have been using carbon arrows but have just bought some new ones - Easton ACC 920's. I just need to spend time shooting them now that I (hopefully) have everything I need for the time being. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
