Timed Ends

Has anyone ever kept any records on how long your average end takes to shoot?
I'm juggling around with numbers here, trying to work out which would be the best rounds to shoot to work towards my 3rd Class, but a lot of it depends upon the physical amount of time I have to actually shoot.
In the evenings I only get an hour (ish), and Saturdays is about 2-3 hours.
By my reckoning that's (at best) a Warwick in an evening, and possibly a National on a Saturday. Having done a Western, I know this takes most of the day, so that's out until the next tournament.
Anyone got any thoughts on this?

You get better by shooting more arrows and getting into a rhythm. If you are only practising then why not shoot more than 6 arrows at an end? That way you can maximise your shooting and minimise your walking up and down.

Um, it depends on whether there is anyone else shooting.
You can't just go and shoot as many shafts as you like, if it will slow down everyone else. On the other hand, the pace of shooting is dictated more by how many other people there are shooting, than anything else. More than one line obviously slows things down, but a single line will be slower (on average) than the slowest person shooting. And then there is looking for arrows.

Pushing the pace with very few people shooting, you can complete a York in around 3 hours, which makes 1 hour for a Warwick quite feasible. I can recall thinking (back when I was at Uni) that 1 1/4 hours was an average sort of time for a Portsmouth, with a number of us shooting. But as I said, it depends on who you're shooting with. Recently, On normal club nights, I've been managing 10 - 11 dozen in about 3 hours, but some of that has been close range blank-boss.

At a push I've recently been shooting Nationals/Long Nationals in an hour and a half, or stretching to a Western in just over two hours. Not exactly comfortable but with time/light restrictions.....
Anyhow the 'normal' rounds will get you as far a 2nd class, the long versions 1st (assuming that you're a gent!)

I usually get 12 arrows off at 70m in 6m30s. I'd slow that down if it were in tournament but each end (of a dozen) takes around 10 minutes including collecting arrows.
