Archery Interchange Part II Underway....

Joe mentioned in a recent thread that it may be useful to have a database where people could register what bow they're shooting and with what arrow as a guide to help people when selecting. I've started to put something together and decided to include other factors that come into play when selecting equipment and tuning bows.

Have a look at: http://www.bowmen.org.uk/register#(you will need you Archery Interchange username and password to log in).

So, a few things before I do any more work on it:

1) Is it something that archers are going to find useful.
2) Have a look at the equipment already in the listings; I think I've managed to include most recent equipment (from catalogues, websites, etc.) but there's a fair bit of currently unavailable kit I'm missing. If you see any glaring errors or ommisions, please let me know.
3) Does it all seem to make sense?

Please feel free to offer advice/suggestions/abuse/cake to dave@bowmen.org.uk or PM me.

Oh, and the stabiliser section has yet to be added!

Thanks

Dave

Erm... no submit button?

Filled in all the boxes and didn't know what to do next, then when I clicked refresh to see what it did it gave me an error (already open by Admin, or similar).

Good idea, though!

Hi Shirt,

It's just an idea at the moment and not fully functional, sorry - should have made that clearer! I just put in the link so we could discuss what should and should not be in there before I do any more work on it (I don't want to spend 2 weeks programming it to find that no ones interested or there's lots of mistakes in the equipment listings).

Sorry about the error - I've already had some good feedback and have been correcting and adding items and was uploading the database#when you pressed the refresh button!

I did think about it, I also thought of adding colour combinations to see if Beiter tuners of differing colours were more or less effective at stabilising the bow and absorbing energy. When I started to consider whether black vanes are slower than white vanes due to light absorbtion I called it a day

RE: Archery Interchange Part II Underway....

I'm definately interested, Dave !!

Only thing was that I couldn't find some of my equipment, but then as a newbie, some of my gear is a little on the cheap side e.g striker button, although i have just upgraded it to a cartel triple cushion so it's not a big deal really. Maybe if each section ( I know some have) had an 'other' option where you could enter a piece of equipment not listed and the database would update / grow itself ??? not that i'm trying to make more work for you, lol

That said it looks really good and i'm sure it would benefit us all at some time, I for one#will be really#grateful, if you decide to go ahead with it !!

Hi AA,

There'll be an 'other' and a 'not known'#field when it's finished and if you do feel something should be listed let me know - all I've had to go on is catalogues and web site listings so not everything will be there - whether it's cheap or expensive

However I will be trying to screw everything down tight in the listings to make it easier to search - when people add their own items to the lists mistakes can creep in; e.g. if someone added 'Aerotec' but put in Airotech then it'll be of little use! The amount of rejected emails I receive from Archery Interchange because people can't spell their own email address when registering will testify to this

Hee Hee, I guess your signature is right then, Dave, LOL

Just had another thought, would it be helpful / possible to have two sections for arrows, one for outdoor, one for indoor ?? or am i getting too carried away. If I am, just say so and I'll slope off and have the mini cream cake that the missus bought me for after tea [it's a mini fresh cream sponge, in case you're interested / jealous, Dave. Lovely !! although one is never enough and she won't get me a large one to myself :-(# ]

What I could do is put an indoor/outdoor option. That way you could enter 2 setups.

Ooh I do like them fresh cream sponges... I had 8 mini ones last week for my birthday, each with a candle on
