I add my commiserations to those above. Bloody mongrels.
It is good that the facilities and gear were insured, but that will, I imagine, not cover the loss of income to your club for the cancelled event, and, as you have already mentioned, the labour your members have put in to hold and promote the FITA. That must be heartbreaking, and also very disappointing for the archers who had intended to compete.
Over here, our club cannot insure our equipment. The cost is prohibitive for sporting goods stored in a shipping container in an open field. At least a shipping container cannot be set fire to easily, unless the mongrels can gain access.
We have had break-ins in the past, and have lost gear, including two ride-on lawn mowers, but we now store our new mower on a property of one of our club members, and the coaches take all club bows home with them. We also installed high tensile steel hasp locks and fittings on the two containers at our club. We have a sign on the doors stating that “The most expensive thing about this container is the lock you are trying to cut. Everything else has already been stolen.”
Hope that your club will recover soon from this mongrel act.
