Armguards...

Over the last few days I have cleared out my garage and set up a target just so that I can loose arrows at will and build up some muscle control.

I went in there at lunchtime even though it was baking hot.

You know when you get that feeling that you have forgotten something but no matter how much you try it won't come to you?

Well it came to me after my third shot! I forgot my armguard!

I am now sporting a wound that looks like I just had a major skin graft. Not to mention at the time I felt like I had the worst chinese burn of all time.

I will never forget my armguard again. I never realised the significance up until now, and after checking my armguard I can see that it has obviously served me well in the past.

Just my few pennies worth.

So you guys are happy if the string slides down your bracer? I bet you go through a lot of bracers between you! Have you thought about changing your style, slightly, so you dont "slow the arrow down?"

Have you thought about being less antagonistic towards newcomers to the sport?

Bravo! The man cracked a joke at my expense. You are a true advocate of the sport.

Let me have a dig so I can delete my original thread so I don't humiliate myself again.

Arm guards are there to prevent injury and clothing contact. In reality you should not need one, if your bow string is hitting your arm so badly, please have a look at why this is happening. A too low brace hight is a good starting point, and a load of form issues too.

Best bruse I have seen is a dry loose from a long bow Oooouch, the worst thig was...it was my arm

Rather that than my arm...after all, that's why I spent the money on it.

I'm no great shakes, but I have been shooting on and off for 5 years...I occasionally catch my bracer...don't give the guy a hard time for doing the same...

No insult intended Normsky, but I'd certainly have a word with your coach to sort out your problem. We have all hit our arm once or twice, but to do it every time we shoot, you have to ask yourself "why?"

Whilst it's clearly still a tender subject I'll stick my neck out & suggest that you take this as a learning point for developing your style (but while wearing that bracer).

I did a session of video coaching last year & it was only after the first half dozen that I remembered that I wasn't wearing my bracer. The clue was the small red patch 2/3 of the way down my forearm where the string rests after the bowsling has stopped the bow flying out of my hand. I suppose that means that I'm sure that I have no string contact on my loose

The location of the bruises might help too - if they're on the little finger side of the forearm then the shoulder position needs work, ditto but more so if it's the inside of your elbow on the same side. Post a picture & we'll diagnose it for you

I'm quite sure that no-one intends to hit their arm BE but I also think no-one is perfect! Normsky did say on his 3rd shot - this doesn't mean he hits his arm every time!

I do. If I'm not hitting my arm in the way that LineCutter describes then the shot is no good.
