It is a really interesting discussion, who is better the one with more hits or less misses.
You have to take into consideration equipment.
We don't have enough information from the original question.
There is a distinct posibility that the archer with the poorer groups is the better archer - but his equipment isn't as well tuned.
You can only compare ability if the equipment is set up equally as well.

On that basis, maybe one of the archers is blind.

I think to avoid allowing the thread to drift off at tangents every time someone posts, you have to assume that the two hypothetical archers A and B were to all intents and purposes identical in all but the number of 10's they shot to achieve the same score.

hmmm. I suspect that in the end the question is moot, as the archer with the most tens is probably going to be shooting better groups as well.

As to the question of the archer with poor technique... If they are winning, then they've abviously managed to find consistency within it. It's not figure skating after all... If they are not winning, then the question doesn't arise.

Why does our sport obsess with finding the best archer when we should simply be worrying about whi wins the competition.
World Champion does not equal Best in the world

Yep. 'Best in the world' is the sort of thing you debate in the bar (or archery forum) afterwards...
