In my young days Noah wore short trousers and Methusela was only known as Thuse then..

Still Archery was still popular, more in war - but hey there wasn't all the gadgets there are now....happy days.

They're probably just checking for allignment aids or some such...

The rules say:

'dress shield'? That sounds even worse than 'chest protector'...

Not at all - it's the formal shield you use at tournaments, as opposed the small practice one you use at the club.
