What to do...

Well, I had my last beginner's lesson the other day and now I'm at a loss as to what to do. I can't afford the equipment and membership fees to join a club at the moment (I can afford one but not the other) so I'm sort of stuck in limbo at the moment

Guess I'll just have to wait those couple of months 'til I've got the cash...

RE: What to do...

I don't know what style or what you intend to do but as most folks on here are GNAS affiliated, I'll assume you've gone down that line?

If you're desperate to shoot, you could always try another society. Granted it may not be your thing, but it will give you somewhere to practice until you can afford the right club and society. NFAS membership is cheaper than GNAS and likewise the clubs are cheaper to join. You never know, you might find you enjoy the rough side of the sport more

Check out the clubs section of the NFAS to see if you have one in your area.

RE: What to do...

You might be able to hire the beginners equipment from the club if you join. At our club we charge either £1 or £2 (can't remember which) a time for use of beginners equipment by people not on the beginners course.

RE: What to do...

A number of GNAS clubs will surely let you use club equipment for a time. (Otherwise you are likely to be buying kit that you will grow out of in a few months!). Ring round some of the other clubs in your area - if you can't find their numbers, drop your county secretary a line

RE: What to do...

I would be surprised if clubs in your area don't have beginners equipment you can use. At our club we charge a nominal fee for equipment hire and your local club might offer some way of you joining even if you couldn't afford the whole fee. Its worth a try Jenny

RE: What to do...

We allow all beginners to continue using the same equipment they used on their course FREE, until there is another course that is - which won't be until October now.

RE: What to do...

I asked about borrowing equipment and they say they do, but only for a couple of weeks(as they've got more beginner's courses lined up) and since I can't afford the kit for a couple of months...

I've had a look at the NFAS website but I can't find a club that close enough unfortunately.

Hmmm....maybe I could sell something...
