There may also be more local 'County' based funding.

A friend of mine managed to get grants, in North Devon, to set up an air gun shooting club. This has turned into a very successful club.

I'll go along with that geoff', We had a split some 4-5yrs ago, due to the grounds being sold off, politics came into it & even now, there are still bad feelings between certain parties. No names, no pack drill. But when we meet at a shoot, there is a certain "Cold" atmosphere in some places. As far as I'm concerned, it over & done with... FORGET IT!
We employ people to do the bad feelings for us we call them politicians. Lets just get on with enjoying our lives, after all, we're only here once (To the best of my knowledge).

Arrow Grants

Not wishing to put a dampner on your plans in setting up a new club but I you need to be wise and cautious about grants. There are many grants out there from different authorities however its just not a case of call them and voila your sorted, with the awards for all grant you need to have a viable project which will directly be a possible resource for the community (the public). not a 100 percent sure about England but here in Scotland the grant will NOT pay for hire costs of halls. So best not to include hire costs within the project, rather do a costing based on so many many beginners kits, sights, arrow rests etc everything in detail and then tell them how this will affect the community, DONT tell them that you split from another club. The awards for all grant usually takes 3 months to process, but dont be put off by that, Archery is one of the leading sports in the UK that is highlighted that if it applies for funding it will get it if it is community minded. Also before you even apply for a grant you will need to have a committee formed, a club bank account and a constitution, no grant authority will take you seriously unless you have those in place. Oh one more point if you have freinds in high places, especially high like councilor or lawyer or minister etc then ask them if they would be a referee for your grant application.. The lotto awards for all like refereees that have in some shape or form been vetted by the Criminal Records. Our club has for the past three years running had a grant every year, its practically policy that we now apply for grants to better the club.

This is £5,000 to buy all the equipment and stuff you need to set up your club. You can even use the money for start up costs such as hire of premises/fields/sportshalls etc.
You are most likely to get a grant if you can show that you are doing something new (like starting a new club, a new junior section, a promotion to encourage new people such as ladies, disabled or ethnic persons).
Make sure your new club isnt too close to the existing one and use a little imagination.

thanks to all that have posted replies. Wise counsels all. It is a fair point that there are many clubs in east anglia, but politics aside, there is a call for a new club in an area not currently well served.

thanks,

Colin

Hi Colin

Can I ask where abouts in EA you are?

Just curious really. If its close to me it may be useful as my club tends to meet when I am working. Somewhere new to shoot would be great.

Regards
