The first of my silly questions....

Looking through my local club's calender I see they have Portsmouth, Worcester and Vegas shoots.

I'm guessing that, as it's a long way to either of the first 2 - and a VERY long way to the latter - that these aren't the shoot venues.

Would someone please like to enlighten me as to the differences between these shoots?

Thank you.

This isn't a stupid question, as everyone was in the same position as you at one time or another.

They are indoor rounds.

A portsmouth is 60 arrows at a 60cm face with 10 zone scoring. "standard colours" 600 max score 20yds
A worcester is 60 arrows at a 40cm face with 1-5 scoring. black and white face, 300 max score 20yds
A vegas is 60 arrows at a 40cm face with 10 zone scoring. "standard colours" 600 max score 18m 3 spot face

Hope this helps.

Chris

If you read the discussion in that thread, you may find the answer to that question.

You could have a look at Robbo's site - not only does it have details of what each round is but also a very good scorecard you can download

Thanks chaps.

Does it strike anyone as odd that the events named after English cities are shot over imperial distances - when we are supposedly a metric country - whereas the event named after an American city is shot over a metric distance - whan they use imperial measurements?

Just a thought......

Americans don't use Imperial measure - their pints are all wrong...
Shouldn't the question be:
why is the UK the only contry in the world that shoots a kids round for adults (60cm face at 18m/20yards...)?

The UK may eventually end up on the metric system, but it'll probably take a few centuries. Anyone like to take a guess on how long it'll take for miles to disappear on roadsigns...?
