| RE: Membership Fees Yes there is a compulsary fee of 70 for clubs. But before there was just a 20 pounds option for clubs without the gym. It seems they are forcing everyone to also join the gym.
|

| RE: Membership Fees Hi Julie, fees are currently £65 (excluding GNAS, County and Regional fees) for the year. Just to correct my previous post, the over 18 full time students pay 50% not 75% (another senior moment by an oldie!! and if I had any hair it would probably be grey). Our shooting field used to be at Samlesbury Hall, which is pretty much out the way - 3 or 4 miles outside of Preston and there have been recent break-ins at some of the facilities near to the ground. Most of the club equipment is now stored in the homes of some of the members until the club sets itself up on the new ground it has just purchased. Don't know Ken, and due to personal circumstances have had to resign from the Club, so unfortunately will not be able to meet him. Dave |

| RE: Membership Fees All inclusive fee (inc. GNAS etc) pa; adults £100, over 60 years £60 and juniors £20. In theory 24/365 shooting. Creating a GNAS junior club makes the GNAS cost/junior plummet.

| RE: Membership Fees "Most judges I have met have grey hair, as do most comittees from most clubs. I think the only way some of us can be heard is if we get out of our chairs and seek representation." Exactly Barry! If you don't like things the way they are then do something about it, Beleive me you'll be welcomed with open arms. As an oldie with grey hair (what's left of it) I am on our clubs committee and yes you're right most judges seem to belong to my generation too. Why? Because it's the Devils own job to get anyone under about 40 to take any intrest in filling positions within a club committee, let alone become a judge. You'll see the same few tired old men and women at your club, at tournaments and within the sports administration working their arses off (For free) so we all can carry on shooting. With a few laudable exceptions the younger generation turn up, shoot and go home. At most AGMs the positions (Sec,records officer, chair etc) are returned unopposed. The only time you'll hear anything from the younger men and women is when they want to complain about The outdated dress code or our sports administration et al. Tell you what. Why don't all you young whippersnappers gang up and oppose us oldies at your own clubs next AGM (You can bet your new riser you'll win) then maybe our sport can truely enter the 21st century. Excuse me if I don't hold my breath. ![]() |

| RE: Membership Fees I can just about qualify as one of Micks 'young whippersnappers' (I'm 32) and in was at the AGM which Julie mentioned at the beginning of this thread.
I like to think that I'm a fairly conscious member of our club and not just a 'turn up and shoot' merchant. (unless Julie(secbridarchers), Nigel (robinhood), dave (lenin) or james (shawasha (aka Knight of the pork pie, LOL)) think differently.
At the AGM, the role of equipment officer was offered on a temporary basis, due to illness. It was suggested that Pete (yes he's grey), our chairman, take the role due to not being able to shoot at the moment through injury and that was fair enough and Pete was more than willing.
The reason nobody opposed the election of the commitee, was that they are doing a brilliant job and the club is going from strength to strength under their leadership, if it ain't broke, don't fix it !!!!!! In fact, all of the members above are on the commitee!
Although I have to admit, we do have TAAS merchants and it tends to be the same faces who turn up to help at events (which are a good source of income for the club), I think that there are a fair few 'older' members who are as bad, if not worse, than the younger members (in fact one of the main topics was about a small group of 'older' longbowmen, who feel that they don't need to shoot to the whistle like the rest of us and are about to be 'brought to task').
I do admit that I've only attended one have-a-go so far of the four during my membership#(although i've only been a member for a little under 3 months) but in my defence, i live 30 miles away and unfortunately only get to see my kids every other weekend, so they always take priority. I am planning to attend more, as and when they occur.
I guess the crux of my argument is that you can't tar everyone with the same brush !!!!

| RE: Membership Fees Thanks for the vote of confidence Neal. Can I just say that the majority of folk who turned up for this years AGM were new and younger members and not all the usual "oldies". Perhaps Barry C should also realise that "grey haired old folk" like me and the rest of our committee, altho one or two might not consider themselves as such, more often than not are retired and have much more time to commit to the running of a club than the younger member who has to go out and earn a living. By the way Neal, we gathered from your first few visits to the club that you were not going to be a "turn up and shoot young whippersnapper". You have already helped more than some members who have been coming for years, hence you are a valuable and respected member and those clubs in Hull don't know what they turned down. |
