bucket hats

does anyone know where i can buy (probably online) a bucket type hat that i keep seeing most archers wearing. I can't seem to find them anywhere and especially not in any archery shop.

My symathies (from one who knows). Have you ever had "No one ever needs" one in that size?

A question: why do top archers wear bucket hats? What is the advantage of them over other styles?

I think the main reason is that few other hat designs offer sufficient string clearance with a recurve bow, while providing adequate shading/sun protection. The brim or peak of other hat designs is often too wide. So unless you push a baseball cap towards the back of your head, which means you get little shade benefit from the peak - the only other option is get a pair of sissors out and 'customise' the peak.

A lot of archers seem keen on Tilly hats, but even these (IMHO) have brims that are too wide. Marketing opportunity?

I use a bucket hat, as it provides good shading for my eyes and also good sun protection for the back of my neck. Also having a dark coloured underside to the brim or peak can reduce glare.

I found mine at Millets and Uni Qlo. And then I customised them.
