Ref: Full Compound Kit Stolen

I have just replied to the above. I had a thought regarding serial numbers. Perhaps we should be thinking of a national register of bows.
Make, model, serial number(s), name & address. Perhaps some of us may think this is getting a little close to licencing our equipment as in the gun world. But I think that if E-Bay & the likes were to insist on us supplying the serial number as a condition of sale, we could then see that the seller is genuine.

I would be happy to register my bows.
Just a thought, what's yours?

IMHO a national register would only work if it was compulsory to register, as in the firearms system. I wouldn't like to go down that road.

Bows are no more valuable in monetary terms to the likes of fishing tackle, scuba gear, whatever. Where would you stop with national registers? No, take a note of your serial number and pass it to the police if the worst should happen. It is then recorded under that serial number and is identifiable through the computer system.

I too would not like to go down that road either, I was thinking of a voluntary register. GNAS could (But I guess will not) run something like a register. At least, it could give us a chance of getting our quipmnt back should it go "walkies"
